Jim Kempner began his real estate career in 1984 as a retail leasing broker in NYC with MJ Raynes & Company, a boutique commercial real estate company. In 1987, Jim Kempner along with his brother Peter founded Kempner Properties based in White Plains, New York. As a Managing Partner of the company, Jim is directly involved in every aspect of owning and growing the company’s portfolio of shopping centers and multifamily properties including acquisitions, financing, leasing, construction, and managing its portfolio. Jim has been a principal owner in the acquisition and sale of over 60 properties with a total valuation of over $350 million.

Kempner Properties LLC established in 1987 is a commercial real estate investment company specializing in the acquisition and ownership of shopping centers, retail and multifamily properties. Kempner Properties LLC currently owns a portfolio of over 30 properties primarily located in the Northeast Region of The United States and the New York metropolitan area. Included in its portfolio are grocery anchored, community and neighborhood shopping centers, freestanding retail buildings and multifamily properties.

Jim received his BA in Business Administration from Ithaca College. Jim grew up in White Plains, NY and resides in Westport, CT with his wife Sara. Jim served on the ICSC New York Planning Committee which he served on for over ten years.
